Description
The City of Jackson, Minnesota maintains a well-developed multi-use trail system that provides residents and visitors with more than 8.5 miles of paved asphalt paths for walking, running, and bicycling throughout the community. This interconnected network winds along scenic stretches of the Des Moines River and Nelson Creek, connecting parks, schools, and neighborhood streets like Springfield Parkway, making it accessible for both recreation and active transportation within the city. The trails are part of Jackson’s broader Parks & Recreation offerings, which include nearly a dozen community parks along about 42 acres of green space. The trail layout generally forms a circuit around Jackson, with connections to local parks such as Ashley Park and Dann’s Island, and features amenities like benches, bike fix-it stations, and signage added by community groups to improve wayfinding. Over the years the system has grown through municipal and volunteer efforts to support outdoor activity and healthy lifestyles for people of all ages and abilities.
